Rain and snowfall have begun in Uttarakhand. Currently, several roads in many hilly districts, including Uttarkashi, are blocked.

Difficulties increase due to snowfall in the mountains
It is raining in all the tehsil areas of Uttarkashi, while snowfall continues in the higher reaches. Due to the snowfall, the Gangotri National Highway is blocked beyond Sukhi Top. The Yamunotri National Highway is also blocked from Rana Chatti to Janki Chatti and Radi Top. Efforts are continuously underway to clear the roads in the areas where they are blocked due to snowfall, with the help of machinery.

Temperature reaches -16 degrees Celsius in Kedarnath
Due to the snowfall in Kedarnath Dham, the temperature has dropped below -16 degrees Celsius. Despite this, security forces are on high alert in the shrine area. Amidst the continuous snowfall in the high Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath, the abode of Baba Kedar, is completely covered in a blanket of white snow. Currently, there is about 3 to 4 feet of snow accumulated in the shrine area. Even in these harsh and challenging conditions, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Rudraprayag Police personnel are on duty.

What will the weather be like in Uttarakhand on January 28?
According to the forecast issued by the Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr. C.S. Tomar, heavy rain and snowfall are expected on January 28 in Nainital, Bageshwar, Almora, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, and Champawat districts. Winds are also expected to blow at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. Meteorologists have issued an orange alert for these districts.
