A commotion erupted at Sarvanand Ghat in the holy city of Haridwar when a woman began bathing her pet dog in the River Ganges. Locals and pilgrim priests present at the ghat objected to this, leading to a heated argument at the scene.

It is reported that the woman had arrived at the ghat with her family and proceeded to bathe her dog in the Ganges right there. Witnessing this, bystanders raised objections and emphasized the need to preserve the sanctity of the river. During the ensuing protest, the woman, in turn, began arguing with the people confronting her.

However, seeing the situation escalate, her family members intervened, escorted the woman away from the spot, and the matter subsequently cooled down. A video of this incident is rapidly going viral on social media, eliciting a wide range of reactions from users.

Condemning the incident strongly, pilgrim priest Ujjwal Pandit stated that Mother Ganges serves as a focal point of faith and reverence for everyone; therefore, maintaining her sanctity is a collective responsibility. He added that such incidents stem from ignorance and deeply hurt religious sentiments.

It is noteworthy that similar incidents concerning the cleanliness and dignity of the Ganges have surfaced in the past as well. Locals assert that such occurrences must be strictly curbed to ensure that the sanctity and decorum of religious sites are upheld.
