Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the ongoing construction and reconstruction works under the Badrinath-Kedarnath Dham Master Plan at the Secretariat on Thursday. He directed that work on six buildings along the ‘Central Street’—part of the Kedarnath reconstruction project—be initiated after the pilgrimage season, prioritizing this task above all else.
The Chief Secretary also inquired about the progress regarding the transfer of assets under the Master Plan. He instructed that the necessary agreement processes with the concerned parties be expedited to avoid any delays in commencing construction work.
Ban on Construction in Sensitive Zones
The Chief Secretary issued directives prohibiting any form of construction outside the designated Master Plan area and ordered the immediate issuance of a government mandate to this effect. He emphasized that no agency should be granted permission to undertake construction in particularly sensitive or avalanche-prone zones. Additionally, he directed that strict adherence to safety and environmental standards be ensured.
Review of Badrinath Projects
The meeting also reviewed the progress of works being carried out under the first and second phases of the Badrinath Dham Master Plan. The Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated timeframes through regular monitoring.
Providing an update on the hospital currently under construction in Badrinath, District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar stated that plans are in place to make the facility operational within approximately 15 days. The Chief Secretary directed that all necessary arrangements for the hospital’s operation be finalized on time.
Officials present at the meeting included Secretary Dhiraj Singh Garbyal; APCCF Vivek Pandey and Surendra Mehra; CCF Prasanna Kumar Patro; Additional Secretaries Vineet Kumar, Himanshu Khurana, and Abhishek Rohilla; as well as the District Magistrates of the concerned districts.
