Big game on Joshimath disaster! ISRO’s report on land subsidence mysteriously disappears

Land subsidence in Joshimath, Uttarakhand is continuously increasing the problems of the local people. On the other hand, the report of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) regarding the Joshimath disaster has mysteriously disappeared. In the report, ISRO had said that land subsidence is increasing rapidly in Joshimath. In the last 7 months, 9 cm of land has sunk. Not only this, in 12 days the land sank 5 cm. The published report on the Joshimath landslide is no longer available on the website of the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC). No statement has come from ISRO in this matter.

The landslide in Joshimath has become a cause of great concern for the BJP government of the state along with the local people. People are forced to live in relief camps amid snowfall and torrential rains. There is a big challenge before the government to displace more than 600 families. The latest update on this issue came to the fore on Friday when ISRO released the report on the ground subsidence on the NRSC website. ISRO had said in its statement that the land subsidence in Joshimath is continuously increasing.

What was in ISRO’s report

ISRO had said in its report that in the last 12 days, there has been a landslide of 5.4 cm in Joshimath. This report came out after the study between 27 December 2022 to 8 January 2023. ISRO in its release said that in the last 7 months, landslides have occurred in Joshimath up to 9 cm.

The report is not opening

The report has mysteriously disappeared from the website of NRSC amidst the possibilities of increasing ruckus regarding the Joshimath disaster after ISRO’s report came out. The link to the PDF report is no longer working. However, no statement has been issued by ISRO in this regard yet.
