Violent protests are taking place in France to raise the age of pension.

A protester told the news agency Reuters, “I am against this reform.” Democracy has no meaning here. We don’t have any representation and we are fed up with it.
Another protester told the AFP news agency, “Through this protest, we want to make our voice known because in any other way this reform will not be withdrawn.”
Rail traffic and oil refinery work were affected due to the protests and some people were also injured.
According to news agency Reuters, peaceful demonstrations in Paris saw clashes between masked protesters and police. Protesters targeted shop windows, street furniture and a McDonald’s restaurant.
In the clash with the police, a policeman fainted, who was taken to a safe place by other policemen.
According to the news agency AP, the police used tear gas on the protesters, while the protesters attacked the police by throwing the items there. According to the agency, 33 people have been arrested in the capital Paris.
