Chhattisgarh / Kawardha: Lover gave music system filled with gunpowder to girlfriend on marriage, house blew up as soon as it was played, 2 died after honeymoon

A sensational revelation has come to light in the home theater blast case that took place on April 3 in Kawardha town of Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh. The mastermind of the blast turns out to be none other than the ex-boyfriend of the bride. Sarju Markam, 33, told that he had done this blast to take revenge. Kabirdham SP Lal Umed Singh said the incident took place in Chamari village under Rengakhar police station area when Hemendra Maravi (22), who got married last week, was turning on the music system. The impact of the blast caused the walls and ceiling of the room where the music system was kept to collapse. Hemendra Maravi and his elder brother were killed in the accident, while four others were injured. The home theater music system was a wedding gift he got.

Hemendra Maravi had married a woman from Anjana village adjacent to Jhalmala police station area on March 30. The next day the woman went back to her maternal home from her in-laws house as per the rituals. Rengakhar and Jhalmala police station areas come under Naxal-affected areas. ASP Manisha Thakur told that Maravi and other family members were opening wedding gifts in a room of their house. After connecting the wire to the electric board, as soon as Marawi turned on the music system, it got blasted. Four others, including his brother Rajkumar (30) and a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, sustained injuries and were admitted to the district hospital in Kawardha, the ASP said. Marawi’s brother had succumbed during treatment.

Forensic teams from Durg and Raipur districts were deputed for the investigation. A famous brand name was printed on the cover of the music system, but it seems to be a copy of the original brand. In this case, the police has arrested 4 people including Sarju Markam. Sarju told that on March 30, he had a dispute with Hemendra. To take revenge, he prepared explosives in the home theater by adding 250 grams of ammonium nitrate and twine bombs. Then secretly left the music system with him at the reception.

Sarju had a love affair with the newly married woman for 2 years. But he was angry because she got married somewhere else. He bought the music system on April 30 from Mandai in Balaghat. The accused has worked in a crusher plant in Indore, MP.
