Uttar Pradesh: The tehsildar threatened the lawyer on ‘daring’ to come to the High Court, Justice serious too, given notice to DM

A sensational case came to the fore in the Allahabad High Court on Friday. Here a High Court advocate requested the court to withdraw his order saying that the Tehsildar was threatening him and his client after the High Court’s order in his favor. Therefore, the court should withdraw the order passed in his favor.
Taking this matter very seriously, the court has summoned Tehsildar of Jakhnia Tehsil of Ghazipur. Along with this, a show cause notice has also been issued to DM Ghazipur seeking clarification. Justice JJ Munir gave this order while hearing Basanti Devi’s petition.
The advocate has said in the affidavit given along with the application to withdraw the order that on February 24, 2023, the High Court had ordered Tehsildar Jakhnia to dispose of the petition’s nomination application as per the rules in a month.
It is alleged that after this order the Tehsildar went to the house of the petitioner and misbehaved with her and her daughter- in- law. Not only this, advocate Santosh Kumar, who filed the petition, whose house is in Semau village of Jakhniyan tehsil, sent Lekhpal and asked the advocate’s father to cut his crops himself without the help of any laborer.
The advocate has to say that the Tehsildar also got it videographed to punish him. The court said that now it is very unfortunate and prima facie an act of contempt. The court issued a notice to Tehsildar Jakhnia and directed him to appear in the court on April 10.
DM Ghazipur has been asked to file an affidavit and give an explanation. The court has directed to get the notice done through Tamil Nadu CGM Ghazipur.
