The BJP has placed bets on the Muslim candidates in the Mandal regarding the civic elections. The party has fielded Muslim candidates on three seats of Municipal President and 13 seats of Nagar Panchayat President in Mandal. Through these candidates, the BJP is trying to woo the Muslim voters.

There are 54 municipal bodies in Moradabad division. It has one Municipal Corporation, 24 Nagar Palikas and 29 Nagar Panchayats. In ticket distribution, the party has tried its best to address the local caste equation. The party has also given preference to Muslim candidates. In 13 out of 29 Nagar Panchayat seats, the party has nominated a Muslim face as its candidate. Similarly, the three candidates for Municipal President are also Muslims. It includes Rampur, Tanda and Afzalgarh municipalities. Experts are seeing the BJP betting on Muslim candidates in connection with the preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For the time being, the victory or defeat of these candidates will decide the future strategy of the BJP.
