Australian Universities Ban: Why Australian universities banned students from 5 states of India
The problems of students who wish to study in Australia are going to increase. In fact, two Australian universities have banned the entry of students from 5 states of India. In view of the increasing cases of visa fraud, one of the two Australian universities which have banned is Federation University located in Victoria. At the same time, the name of the second university to be banned is Western Sydney University, which is located in New South Wales. The Sydney Morning Herald has given this information.
Visa application fraud in one out of every four students
In the report of Australia’s Home Affairs Department, there has been a big disclosure about visa fraud. According to this report, one out of every four student visa applications coming from India is a visa application fraud. Western Sydney University and Federation University have instructed education agents not to consider the names of students from the four Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ban announced before PM Modi’s visit
It is worth noting that before the three-day visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Australia, both the universities announced the ban. This was done at a time when a big program was organized for Indian expatriates in Sydney. In the letter issued on May 19, he said that he observed that the Home Affairs Department is rejecting visas coming from Indian territories and this increase is remarkable.
On the other hand, Western Sydney University told the agents in its letter that in the year 2022, a large number of Indian students got admission, but left the studies midway. Most of the Indian students who did this were from Punjab, Gujarat and Haryana. In view of this matter, the university has decided to immediately ban the students taking admission from these states of India.
Many other Australian universities have also banned the admission of Indian students from some states. Edith Cowen University, Torrance and Southern Cross University are prominent in this.
