Harish Pengan: Malayalam actor Harish Pengan died at the age of 49, Tovino Thomas expressed grief

Malayalam actor Harish Pengan passed away on Tuesday (May 30). The actor breathed his last at the age of 49 at a private hospital in Kochi. As per reports, he was admitted to the hospital earlier this month for treatment of acute liver ailments. Minnal Murali’s co-star Tovino Thomas took to Instagram to express his condolences after the news of his death broke.

Tovino Thomas paid tribute

Sharing a picture of Harish, Tovino Thomas wrote, “Rest in peace Chetta.” Fans have also paid tribute to him along with the Malayalam star. Harish Pangan was a part of several films, including Maheshinte Prathikaram, Minnal Murali, Vellaripattanam, Jaane Mana, Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, Priyan Ottamhil and Jo & Jo.

Doctor advised liver transplant

Earlier this month, it was reported that Harish’s doctors had advised him for a liver transplant and his twin sister had agreed to be a donor. However, the family did not have the money to get the surgery done. Actor Nandan Unni came forward to help him. He had urged on social media to raise funds to help the actor.

Nandan Unni appealed for help

He wrote in his social media post, “Let’s join hands to save a life. Actor Harish Pengan, who played many notable roles, made us laugh with many films like Maheshinte Prathikaram, Shefikinte Santosham, Honey Bee 2.5, Vellaripattanam, Jaane Mana, Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, Priyan Ottathilanu, Jo Aur Jo, and Meenal Murali among others. My compatriot and dear friend, Harish, has been fighting to get life back at Amrita Hospital in Ernakulam for the last ten days.”

Money was needed for treatment

The actor further added, “He was admitted to the hospital with minor abdominal pain and acute liver disease. Doctors have advised immediate liver transplant. Harish’s twin sister Sreeja is ready to donate her liver. What is needed now is a huge amount needed for the treatment.”
