Disaster Secretary held a meeting in the presence of officers from NDMA, Government of India, discussion on making Chardham Yatra better and easier
Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Ranjit Sinha took a review meeting for the successful conduct of Chardham Yatra in the presence of officials from NDMA, Government of India at DMMC Auditorium Secretariat. In the meeting, Rajendra Singh of the National Disaster Management Authority, Government of India, reviewed the ongoing Chardham Yatra arrangements in the state. He inquired about the arrangements from the departmental officers to make the pilgrimage better and easier. He said that after the previous travel experiences, the state has made many good changes in the arrangements, which were closely monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office. This time also we all have to make joint efforts to make the yatra more successful and enjoyable than before. Efforts have to be made that the yatra is conducted better year after year. He said that PMO is also taking cognizance from time to time on Chardham Yatra.
He asked the work being done by road condition, transport system, health camps, police check posts, passenger registration centers to be done in a planned manner keeping in view the convenience of the passengers and the large number of devotees. He said that measures should be taken to manage the crowd of devotees before leaving the temple premises, so that darshan can go on peacefully in the temple premises. He stressed on discharging the responsibilities on the basis of SOP for the line department. The SOP for heli services also needs to be publicized to the general public.
Instructions were given to the officials to work in mutual coordination between the local administration, health, tourism department and police administration, security forces and paramilitary forces. Keeping the Meteorological Department very active, the tasks of sending early warnings and messages on time were also said to be necessary for travel and monsoon.
In the meeting, Colonel K.K. P. Singh, Inspector General SDRF Ridvim Agarwal, IRS expert V.B. Other officers including the counter were present.
