He has written that “My wife (Queen Camilla) and I are extremely distressed and saddened by the news of the horrific train accident in Balasore. I express my deepest condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in this accident.

Expressing deep condolences on this accident, Maharaja Charles described it as very painful. In the message, the Maharaja also recalled his visit to Odisha 43 years ago. In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace, King Charles said, “My wife, Queen Camilla, and I are deeply saddened by this accident. He said that I have our deepest condolences to the families of all the people who lost their lives in this accident. His statement has also been released on all the social media accounts of the royal family. Referring to his visit to Odisha, Maharaja Charles said, “You know that India and the people of India have a special place in our hearts. I still have fond memories of going to Odisha in 1980 in particular and meeting some of the people there on that occasion.
