In Joshimath affected by landslides, once again the cracks in the houses have started getting deeper. In a house declared unsafe in Singhdhar Ward, cracks increased with loud noises on Wednesday night, causing panic among the family members.
The family alleges that they were forcibly thrown out of the hotel. After which they were forced to live in an unsafe house. At the same time, the administration has asked the affected family to shift to the municipality.
Prakash Bhotiyal’s house is near State Bank in Singhdhar Ward. Prakash told that there was a loud sound at 10:40 pm on Wednesday night. It felt as if something had snapped, causing all the family members to panic. When I woke up on Thursday morning, I saw that the ladder of the house was stuck to the roof. The roof of the house also caved in and the cracks in the wall became deep. Prakash alleged that he had injured his hand during his stay at the relief camp.
He was admitted to Gopeshwar District Hospital. Family members were also with him. At the same time the hotelier and the nodal officer called him and asked him to vacate the hotel room. He was told that hotel bookings have started coming in during the travel season. According to Prakash, after returning from the hospital, he handed over the key to the hotel room and returned to his unsafe home. Have been living in this house for two months.
