The Uttarakhand government seems to be very alert regarding the preparations for the Kanwar Mela 2023. After the meeting of ministers, Garhwal Divisional Commissioner (Commissioner) Sushil Kumar also held two separate meetings on Saturday. The first meeting was held by Sushil Kumar with officials of other states including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. While in the second meeting the preparations for the Kanwar Yatra were reviewed with the officials of Haridwar district.

Regarding the meeting held regarding Kanwar Yatra 2023, Garhwal Commissioner Sushil Kumar said that in-depth discussion and suggestions have been put forward to ensure that the yatra goes smoothly and the visiting devotees get good facilities. At the same time, he said that a kanwar bigger than 12 feet will not be allowed in the journey. DJ can also be played only up to the controlled limit. Noise pollution will also be controlled. The commissioner has asked all the devotees coming to the Kanwar fair to bring their IDs.

After the meeting, DIG Garhwal KS Nagnyal told that there will be a possibility of 3 to 6 crore devotees coming to Haridwar within just one week during the Kanwar fair. For this reason, it will be challenging to manage traffic and crowd. Under this, 10 paramilitary forces have been demanded. Along with this, PAC and India Reserve Battalion (IRB) are also being set up. The entire Mela area is divided into Super Zones, Zones and Sectors. He told that the bikers who bring bikes without silencers will not be allowed to go ahead. Such kanwariyas will be dealt with strictly.
