Most of our athletes have faced various forms of social discrimination, and have been treated as non-functioning members of society in various spheres, says Dr. Mallika Nadda, President, Special Olympics India, on the performance of the Indian contingent at the Berlin Games . This idea is wrong. His performance in the field of play proves that he is capable of showing strength, speed, concentration and discipline. I hope this will open the eyes of people outside and prove that we need to expand this movement and make it more inclusive. The Indian contingent consisted of 198 athletes apart from 57 coaches who participated in 16 sports.
