UCC will be implemented in Uttarakhand, ongoing practices will not change, CM Dhami said – draft will be legally tested
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will not change anyone’s ongoing practices. The expert committee has compiled the draft on June 30 at the appointed time. Soon the government will get the draft prepared by the committee. Which will be discussed and examined in legal aspects. Only after this the government will take a decision.
Talking to the media in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said that there is a provision of Uniform Civil Code in Article-44 of the Constitution. The implementation of UCC will not change the customs of any religion or community. There will be one law for all. The UCC committee took the views of 2.31 lakh people across the country to prepare the draft. In which opinion of religion, community, stakeholders was taken. Opinion is also being taken from the Law Commission.
The CM said that the UCC committee had asked to prepare the draft by June 30. The members of the committee met in Delhi and told that the draft has been compiled in the fixed committee. Soon the committee will submit the draft to the government. It will be discussed as well as the legal aspects will be examined. Only after this the government will take further action.
