1,100 crores spent on advertising in three years, then give money for infrastructure too – SC reprimands Delhi government

The Supreme Court on Monday (July 24) reprimanded the Delhi government for the delay in the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The court said that when the government can spend one crore rupees on advertisements in three years, then funds should also be given for infrastructure.
The court was hearing a petition filed regarding the RRTS project. During this, the court said that when Rs 1,100 crore can be allocated for advertisements in the last 3 years, then it is also possible to fund the project. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia’s bench was hearing the case. The court ordered that the pending amount from the government should also be paid within two months.
The court had sought details of expenditure on advertisements
The court has already asked the Delhi government regarding the fund. In the beginning of this month, the court reprimanded the state government regarding the fund and also sought details of the amount spent on advertisements from the government for three years. Actually, during the hearing, the government had said that it does not have the funds, on which the court said that in three years, give information about how much your government has spent on advertisements.
Delhi government said – Fund will be allocated
During the hearing today, the counsel for the Delhi government said that funds will be allocated for the project. He also said that the pending amount will also be paid by the Delhi government within two months.
RRTS will connect Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut
Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System is a semi high-speed rail corridor, the work of which is underway. With the construction of this corridor, there will be a lot of convenience for the people of Delhi and NCR. It will connect Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut. The Rapidx project has planned three rapid rail corridors, RRTS is also a part of the same.
