BJP MP told India’s English word INDIA a symbol of British slavery, demand in the House to remove it from the constitution

26 opposition parties have formed an alliance for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. This alliance has been given the name India (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance). This alliance will be in direct competition with the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). After naming the opposition alliance as ‘INDIA’, the entire Bharatiya Janata Party, including PM Modi, is attacking this alliance, while now a BJP MP has proposed to remove the word India from the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha.

In the Upper House, BJP MP Naresh Bansal, through a special mention, termed the name India as a colonial symbol and a shackle of slavery. He has proposed to remove the word India from the constitution. In the argument of his demand, Bansal referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15 last year, in which he called upon the country to free itself from the symbols of slavery. Bansal said that in the last nine years, Prime Minister Modi has on many occasions advocated the removal of colonial heritage and colonial symbols and replacing them with traditional Indian symbols, values and thought.
The British changed the name of India to India
The BJP MP said that the British changed the name of Bharat to India. He said that due to the hard work of freedom fighters and sacrifices, the country became independent in 1947 and in 1950, “India that is Bharat” was written in the Constitution. He said that the name of the country has been Bharat for centuries and it should be called by that name. He said that the English name of India, the word India, is a symbol of the slavery of the British. Bansal said that the symbol of slavery should be removed in the golden age of freedom.
This holy land should be named India
He demanded that Article 1 of the Constitution should be amended to remove ‘India that is’ and this holy land should be named Bharat. He said that Bharat Mata (India) should be freed from the shackles of this slavery in the form of name. The BJP MP has made this demand at a time when the opposition parties have united and named their alliance as ‘India’.
