Heavy rain expected in five districts of Uttarakhand for next two days, Orange alert issued

Ever since the onset of monsoon in Uttarakhand from the month of June, there has been a pattern of rain in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, this sequence may intensify in the next two days. Looking at the weather conditions and forecast, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in five districts of the state.

According to Bikram Singh, director of the State Meteorological Center, the monsoon is active in North India. Due to the activation of fresh Western Disturbance in the Himalayan region, there are chances of heavy rains in Uttarakhand as well. An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Bageshwar for the next two days. On the other hand, the phase of intense showers with thunder and lightning is expected to continue in other districts.

Advice to be cautious about disaster due to heavy rains in mountainous areas

It has been advised to be alert from the point of view of disaster during heavy rains in hilly areas. In most areas of Uttarakhand, along with showers, it is raining heavily at some places. However, there is relief in the absence of torrential rains for the past one week. There is a sequence of intense showers in most of the districts of Kumaon. At the same time, one to two rounds of showers are happening daily in Haridwar and Dehradun.

During heavy rains in Dehradun on Wednesday morning, there was waterlogging on the road leading to Mohini Road. During this, school children and motorists passing through here had to face a lot of problems.

City flooded due to heavy rain

In Doon, there was heavy rain in half the areas of the city on Wednesday morning. Due to rain for about an hour, many areas became water-logged. Areas like Prince Chowk, Buddha Chowk, Lansdowne Chowk, EC Road, Dalanwala, Survey Chowk, Rajpur Road, Jakhan, Sahasradhara Road, Guniyal Gaon, Purkal, etc. received heavy rains, leading to submergence of main roads.

On the other hand, water drainage could not be done on the main roads due to half-completed drains, due to which the common people faced a lot of problems in movement. Especially the students going to school in the morning had to pass through waterlogged roads. Apart from this, there was light rain in the evening in some areas of the city.
