Discussion on cabinet expansion intensifies in Uttarakhand, know how many faces are in the race to become ministers?

Once again the discussion of cabinet expansion has started in Uttarakhand. In the Dhami cabinet, one MLA each from Scheduled Caste and OBC quota can be made a minister. At present four ministerial posts are lying vacant in the cabinet. Initially, after the announcement of Bageshwar by-election results, there were murmurs of cabinet expansion. More than a month has passed since the results came. The wishes of the contenders for seats in the cabinet were not fulfilled. In such a situation, the expectations of the MLAs have once again increased due to the signal given by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Haridwar and Nainital districts have not yet got representation in the Dhami cabinet.

When will Dhami cabinet be expanded?

It is expected that after the reshuffle in the Dhami cabinet, one face each from Haridwar and Nainital may get a place. In the 2022 assembly elections, BJP had got only three seats from Haridwar district. BJP has control over five out of six assembly seats in Nainital district. One seat is in the account of Congress. In such a situation, it is believed that now both the districts can get representation in the Dhami cabinet. The biggest reason for cabinet expansion is the OBC issue raised by the opposition alliance India.

Who is leading in the race for ministerial post?

To give more representation to the OBC community, ministers can be made from two OBC quotas in Uttarakhand. If this happens, the fate of MLA Adesh Chauhan from Ranipur, Haridwar may change. Aadesh Chauhan can get a place in the cabinet from OBC quota. After the death of former cabinet minister Chandan Ramdas, it is considered certain that an MLA from Scheduled Caste will get a place in the Dhami cabinet. Many faces are involved in the race for ministerial post.

Shaktilal Shah of Ghansali, Sarita Arya of Nainital and Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das are included in the list of strong contenders. The names of Nainital’s Bhimtal MLA Ram Singh Kaida, Lal Kuan MLA Dr. Mohan Singh Bisht, Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli, Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari are also being discussed in political circles. The festival of Navratri is starting from 15th October. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will go to Dubai on a two-day visit amid the Global Investors Summit. Therefore, the expansion of the cabinet is expected to happen after the return of Chief Minister Dhami from Dubai.
