Hockey: In sub-junior hockey, Under-16 men’s team defeated Netherlands 4-1, girls lost
The Indian boys and girls sub-junior (Under-16) hockey teams got mixed results on their maiden tour to the Netherlands. The boys defeated the Netherlands Under-16 team 4-0 while the girls were defeated by the Dutch team 4-1. For the boys, Rohit I Singh, Ketan Kushwaha, Rahul Rajbhar and captain Manmeet Singh Rai scored goals. Coach Sardar Singh said, ‘This is a great end to such a historic tour. The boys performed excellently. Such a performance on foreign soil is a matter of pride.
For the girls, only Kajal Junior could score a goal. Former Indian captain and sub-junior team coach Rani Rampal said, ‘The girls showed a lot of fighting spirit. We have to work on some aspects. This tour revealed our strengths and weaknesses.
