Police arrested fraudster Ziaul Islam Siddiqui, who cheated Rs 14 lakh in the name of getting a job by pretending to be a magistrate, on Sunday night. A car with a fake name plate of a magistrate, two fake identity cards, Aadhaar card, Rs 95,000 and three mobile phones have been recovered from him. Kasif, a resident of Pathantoli, Azamgarh, had lodged a complaint against Ziaul Islam of Dhakera village of Laharpur tehsil of Sitapur district on Saturday. According to the complaint, Jiyaul uses a car with a fake name plate of a magistrate.
Promised to get a job
The accused lured his friend Zahid alias Golu into getting the job of review officer in Lucknow Secretariat for Rs 15 lakh. Zahid gave Rs 14 lakh but neither got the job nor is getting the money back.
On the instructions of the police, Zahid called Jiyaul at Hydel intersection of Sidhari on Sunday night to give him Rs 1 lakh. As soon as Jiyaul reached there, the police arrested him.
SO Yogendra Bahadur Singh of Sidhari police station said that the accused was appointed in Lucknow Secretariat in 2001 on the post of review officer on contract. When he was fired from his job in 2015, he got a fake identity card of a magistrate and started driving with magistrate written on the car. He started extorting money from people on the pretext of being a magistrate and started cheating in the name of getting them a job.
Jiyaul is divorced and has a 12 year old daughter. He had given advertisement for his marriage on Shaadi.com. There was a conversation with Kasif, who was looking for a match for his sister, regarding her marriage. He also tricked Kasif into getting him a job. Kasif said that he did not have money, but when he mentioned it to Zahid, he agreed.
