Uttarakhand: CM flagged off the team of 177 players of the state in the 37th National Games, said – the state government is standing with the players at every step.
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday flagged off the team of players participating from Uttarakhand state in the upcoming 37th National Games, Goa at Chief Sevak Sadan, Chief Minister’s residence, Dehradun.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister distributed sports kits/track suits and sent his best wishes to the players participating in the 37th National Games from the state.
While congratulating the players, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that all the players will bring glory to Uttarakhand in the national competition with their morale and dedication. In the National Games, players will definitely bring glory to Devbhoomi on the strength of their skilled sporting talent. He said that this year the number of sports disciplines and players has increased. Sports culture is continuously developing in the state. The state government is also making every possible effort to develop sports culture in the state.
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that with the aim of increasing the talent in the state, the work of providing sports scholarships to talented and emerging players is going on. He said that a “new sports policy” has been brought for the promotion of sports and players in the state. To bring interest in the field of sports to the players from the grassroots level, players aged between 14 to 23 years are being given a scholarship of Rs 2000 per month and Rs 10 thousand per year to buy kits for related sports under the “Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana”. . Under the “Mukhyamantri Udyyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana”, a sports scholarship of Rs 1500 per month is being given to the budding players of 08 to 14 years of age. Besides, ‘Chief Minister Sports Development Fund’ has also been established to provide quick financial benefits to the players as per rules.
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has increased the respect of every player of the state during his visit to Pithoragarh. The state government has made arrangements for financial assistance in case of accidents to players while traveling to competitions and training camps. The state government is going to make rules to provide 5 percent sports quota for admission to professional courses in universities. Arrangements have been made to provide grants for construction of sports infrastructure facilities through private sports fields. He said that action will also be taken to re-implement 4 percent sports quota for employment in state services.
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami said that all the players should set their goals by adopting the basic mantra of hard work and determination without options with strong willpower and work hard to achieve that goal. The state government is also standing with you at every step.
While congratulating all the players, Sports Minister Smt. Rekha Arya said that she is feeling proud and energetic after being among the players. He said that with changing times, people’s attitude towards sports has also changed. Uttarakhand is also progressing in the field of sports. As per the resolution of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami ji, there has been continuous progress in the field of sports. Scholarships are also being provided to encourage players in the state. He said that the state government has opened the way for players in government service. Today, the work of building the future along with the present of the players is going on.
Special Principal Secretary Shri Abhinav Kumar said that this time a 240-member team is participating from the state in the National Games. In which there are 63 team officials along with 177 players and this team will participate in 25 sports disciplines. He wished the players all the best for the upcoming games.
During this program, President of Uttarachal Olympic Association Nirman Mukherjee, General Secretary Dr. D.K. Singh, Director Sports Jitendra Kumar Sonkar, Dr. Alaknanda Ashok and others were present in the program.
