Uttarakhand: Union Health Secretary Sudhansh Pant inspected BD Pandey Hospital, reprimanded for the chaos

BD Pandey Hospital has been inspected by Union Health Secretary Sudhansh Pant, where he visited various wards of the hospital including Oxygen Generation Plant, Dental Department, Casual, Jan Aushadhi Kendra, City Scan and Ultrasound and examined the health arrangements. During the Corona period, the Union Health Secretary expressed his displeasure over the fact that out of the five ICU beds built from the PM Care Fund in BD Pandey Hospital, only three beds had ventilators.
Union Health Secretary Sudhansh Pant said that BD Pandey Hospital is one of the cleanest hospitals in the state, he has not seen any filth in the infant ward and ICU ward. However, there is dirt in the toilet, instructions have been given to PMS to remove it. There is no attached bathroom for patients in the hospital. Due to which patients are facing problems. Therefore, there is a need to create attached bathrooms in the ward.
The Union Health Secretary said that during the inspection of other hospitals of Kumaon, the problem of vacant posts in the Health Department was noticed, which will be filled as soon as possible after talks at the government level. Besides, other posts including the posts of four specialists are vacant in BD Pandey Hospital, which will also be filled. He told that RAM J Hospital located in Nainital is the oldest hospital, which is in a bad condition. To fix this, the repair work of the hospital will be done by making a project with the National Health Mission.
Union Health Secretary Sudhansh Pant said that due to the efforts of the Central and State Government, a critical block was to be established in Nainital, but due to lack of space, the work on the block has not started yet. Due to which seriously ill or injured patients coming to the hospital have to be referred elsewhere.
During the Corona period, the Union Health Secretary has expressed displeasure over the fact that out of the five ICU beds built from the PM Care Fund in BD Pandey Hospital, only three beds had ventilators. The Union Health Secretary has instructed the hospital management to clarify the situation. Besides, instructions have been given to improve the maintenance of the equipment present in the hospital and to remove the faulty equipment and order new equipment as soon as possible.
