Ruled the streets of Mumbai for 60 years, now this taxi will not be seen, know the reason

It is said that with changing times, technology has also changed a lot. Now cabs have become more prevalent in every city. If you want to go anywhere, online cabs are available, just a little formality and people are enjoying the pleasant journey. At the same time, for the last several decades, not just one or two but almost six decades, you have seen black and yellow taxis galloping on the streets of the country’s financial capital Mumbai. For the people living in Mumbai, the picture of this black-and-yellow ‘Premier Padmini’ taxi is stuck in their mind. This taxi service was known as ‘Kaali-Pili’ taxi service and the people of Mumbai have a deep connection with this taxi service. Now there is a sad news for those people, that is that from Monday i.e. 30th October, the “journey” of this black-yellow taxi is going to end.
The reason for this is that now new models and app-based cab services are available in the city and due to this, this black and yellow taxi will now be removed from the roads of Mumbai. Let us tell you that in Mumbai. Recently, the famous red double-decker diesel buses of public transporter ‘BEST’ have also been removed from the roads and after this, these black-and-yellow taxis will also not be seen on the roads.
Demand to keep the black and yellow taxi in the museum
A transport department official said the last taxi of ‘Premier Padmini’ was registered at Tardeo RTO on October 29, 2003. He told that, the time limit for operating cabs in the city is 20 years, hence from Monday onwards ‘Premier Padmini’ i.e. black-yellow taxis will not officially run on the roads in Mumbai. Prabhadevi, owner of Mumbai’s last registered Premier Padmini Taxi (MH-01-JA-2556), said, “This is the pride of Mumbai and our life.”
Padmini started her journey in 1964
At the same time, some people of Mumbai have demanded that at least one ‘Premier Padmini’ should be preserved in the museum. Let us tell you that a few years ago, ‘Mumbai Taximen Union’ had petitioned the government to preserve at least one black-and-yellow taxi, but without any success. AL Quadros, General Secretary of Mumbai Taximen’s Union, said that ‘Premier Padmini’ started its journey as a taxi in 1964 with the ‘Fiat-1100 Delight’ model. This taxi will now remain in our memories.
