Uttarakhand: Ration Cards Can Now Be Issued from Home: Government Implements Unified System—Find Out Which Documents Are Required

Under the Smart PDS scheme, the State Government has implemented the Unified Ration Card Management System (URCMS) portal to make ration card services more simplified, transparent, and technologically advanced.

Following this new system, citizens will no longer need to make repeated visits to government offices to obtain a ration card, add or remove names, or make other modifications. People can now apply online from the comfort of their homes.

The government has developed the new URCMS portal by updating the previous RCMS (Ration Card Management System) portal, thereby making services significantly easier and more transparent. To avail of these services, citizens can visit uk.smartpds.nic.in and apply through the ‘Citizen Login’ option.

For a new ration card, Aadhaar-based OTP verification is mandatory; whereas, for modifications to an existing ration card, logging in using the registered mobile number of the Head of the Family has been made compulsory.

District Supply Officer K.K. Agarwal stated that, under the new system, people can now apply for a new ration card and make corrections to existing cards from their homes. He further added that those who lack access to these online facilities may also submit their applications at the Tehsil or District Supply Offices.

Additionally, the department has appealed to all ration card holders to complete their e-KYC process in a timely manner—specifically before May 30th—using the “Mera e-KYC” app, in order to avoid any potential inconvenience.
