Uttarakhand: BJP said- Congress is making hypocritical and negative statements regarding Uttarkashi accident

BJP has accused Congress of making hypocritical and negative statements regarding the Silkyara accident. Also challenging the opposition to clarify its stand on this sensitive issue, he said, the allegations of the ministers not reaching the spot and the statement that the rescue work was disrupted upon their arrival, both cannot be accepted together.

Answering the questions of journalists at the party headquarters, State General Secretary Aditya Kothri said, the central and state governments are coordinating and engaged in rescue operations on a war footing to safely rescue the labor brothers trapped in the tunnel accident. He has lodged a strong objection to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari linking the inspection of the incident site with laying of red carpet. He also hit back and said, first the Congress says that the ministers are busy in election campaigning and are not going to the spot and now when the Union Minister of the Road Transport Department associated with the project goes there, they also have objections. Therefore, Congress should clarify whether they want the ministers to go there or not. At present, BJP’s stand on this entire issue is clear, whatever technology, experts and representatives are required to save the lives of the workers, they will be brought there immediately. As far as Gadkari ji is concerned, he is the head of the department related to the entire rescue operation, his coming there is going to give more momentum to it.

Responding to the opposition’s allegations regarding the mistakes of the executing construction company, he said, Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has ordered an investigation into this entire incident. As soon as the rescue work is completed, action will definitely be taken against those found guilty in the investigation and necessary reforms will be implemented. Therefore, instead of reaching conclusions without investigation, the opposition leaders should give good suggestions and wish for the safe passage of the workers.

Taking a dig at the opposition leaders who unnecessarily targeted the mountain tunnel technology, he said, for a long time there has been a demand by experts to make the mountain tunnel to make the journey easier and safer. Experiences around the world also show it to be better, hence it is not at all justified to question the entire technology without investigation on the basis of just one accident.
