Rajasthan: You are dead, you can’t vote…’ the officer told the elderly who went to vote!
The voting process for the assembly elections in Rajasthan has been completed. This time people once again voted bumper in the state. According to the Election Commission, this time there has been 1 percent more voting in the state compared to 2018. Voting continued till 10 pm in many seats of Jodhpur and Barmer in Rajasthan. Meanwhile, a shocking case has come to light from Raisinghnagar assembly constituency of Ganganagar. Due to the negligence of the officials here, a 95 year old man returned homeless. On one hand, the Election Commission makes various efforts to bring voters to the polling booth, while on the other hand, the elderly people who went to cast their vote had to return without voting.
Mala belongs to Raisinghnagar seat of Ganganagar district. Here 95 year old Niranjan Arya, resident of Tatarsar, went to the booth with his family members to vote. On reaching there the officers told him that the BLO had declared him dead. Therefore he cannot vote. After this, the family members of the old man showed many other proofs of his being alive to the authorities but the authorities did not listen to them.

In this case, Niranjan Arya said that he has been living in the village for 50 years. He had also voted in the last election but due to the negligence of the BLO, this time he has been declared dead. Niranjan told that his wife had died. In such a situation, the government employees considered him dead along with his wife. Let us tell you that this time the Election Commission started the facility of home voting for the first time. Under this, all the elders above 80 years of age voted at home.
