Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh wrote on ‘X’ that Tejas is a scheme with our indigenous scientific and technical capability. Tejas was designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) established in 1984. The design of this light fighter aircraft was finalized after 6 years.
The Congress leader said that after Tejas was designed by ADA, it was worked on in collaboration with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.
‘Operational approval was given to the scheme in the year 2011’
Jayaram said that the design of the light combat aircraft was finalized after six years. Finally, it was given operational approval in the year 2011. Of course, there are many more such important milestones. He all said that this plan was made with great determination decades ago.

Tejas Fighter Jet manufactured by HAL, which has been developed primarily to replace the aging squadron of MiG 21 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force.
The Indian Air Force and Defense Ministry had signed an agreement with HAL to purchase a total of 324 Tejas aircraft including all its variants. There are many special features of this fighter plane which further increase its importance.
