CBI caught BSNL Principal GM taking bribe; 40 thousand rupees were demanded from the JTO in exchange for removing the name from the charge sheet.

CBI Bhopal team has caught Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Principal General Manager Mahendra Singh red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15 thousand. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 from his subordinate Rojag Sahu (Junior Telecom Officer) to finish the investigation into his complaint. CBI team caught him while taking bribe of Rs 15 thousand as first installment. He was arrested at BSNL office on Sultania Road on Friday evening. The investigating agency produced him in the court on Saturday and detained him for four days (till Tuesday) for questioning.

Officer asked for bribe from his junior
CBI officials said that Mahendra Singh was investigating a complaint against Rood Sahu. He had demanded a bribe of Rs 40 thousand through his subordinate Rakesh Yadav to remove Sahu’s name from the charge sheet. Sahu had also told the CBI that Mahendra Singh had also threatened to take action if the bribe was not paid.

After the complaint, CBI took a bribe of Rs 15 thousand and sent Sahu to BSNL office. Mahendra’s associate Rakesh Yadav has absconded. The investigation team interrogated other employees in the office and recorded their statements. Also raided Mahendra Singh’s house and seized some cash and jewellery.
