Pakistan: Suicide bomber blows himself up at police headquarters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 3 policemen killed

Three policemen have been killed in a suicide attack on the police headquarters in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Two other policemen have also been injured. An assistant sub-inspector is also among those who died. All three attackers were also killed in retaliation by the security forces. This incident happened on Friday morning. After which the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is being carried out in the apprehension that the accomplices of the attackers are hiding.

According to the report of Pakistani newspaper The Dawn, on Friday morning they entered the police line of Tank district and opened fire indiscriminately. Pak police personnel retaliated on them. Two attackers were killed in police firing while the third attacker blew himself up. According to the Tank police spokesperson, three policemen, including a sub-inspector, lost their lives in the blast caused by a bomb strapped to the body of the attacker.

Suspicion of more attackers being present in the premises
Tank District Police Officer Iftikhar Shah has said that all the troops present in the police line have been evacuated safely. A search operation is being conducted after an alert about the presence of more terrorists nearby. More attackers may be present in the police headquarters premises. The other blast site is also being cleaned. Another suicide jacket was also found from this place, in which a bomb was tied. No terrorist organization has yet claimed responsibility for this attack.

This is the second major attack this week in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. On December 12 itself, 23 soldiers were killed in a suicide attack on the army base in Dera Ismail Khan. Six terrorists attacked the security forces post in Dera Ismail and crashed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the wall of the building. Three days later, once again a similar attack was carried out targeting the police headquarters in Tank.
