Load on electricity consumers will increase, increase of 27 percent; Proposal will be sent to Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission soon

Electricity consumers in the state may face a big shock in the new year. Energy Corporation is preparing to increase the annual electricity tariff by 23 to 27 percent. Its proposal has been approved in the board meeting of the Energy Corporation. Soon the proposal will be sent to Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission.
After this, the Commission will study this proposal and take a decision after public hearing. New electricity prices will be implemented in the state by April 1. Electricity bills may shock about 27 lakh consumers of Uttarakhand next year. Energy Corporation has almost prepared the proposal for new electricity tariff for the next financial year.
Board meeting of energy corporation
On Saturday, the board meeting of the Energy Corporation was held under the chairmanship of the Corporation’s Chairperson and Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi. In which various issues including the new annual electricity tariff were discussed. During this, the board agreed to the proposal of increase in salary from 23 to 27 percent in the coming financial year.
The reason behind this increase is the purchase of electricity from the market at higher prices than the prescribed price and the expenditure of about Rs 3900 crore on the securities received during distribution from Uttar Pradesh. This proposal will be sent to the Regulatory Commission by 23 December.
Last financial year there was an increase of 2.68 percent
After receiving the proposal, the Commission will study it and hold a public hearing and a decision will be taken after knowing the views of all the stakeholders. Let us tell you that this year the Regulatory Commission had increased the rates by 9.68 percent and in the last financial year by 2.68 percent.
According to Anil Kumar, Managing Director of Energy Corporation, this year Delhi has proposed a 30 percent increase and Jharkhand has proposed a 44 percent increase. A proposal for 23 to 27 percent increase has been made in Uttarakhand.
Due to the efforts being made in expensive power purchase and consumer facilities at the national level, there is preparation to increase the tariff in Uttarakhand also. Right now the proposal is being worked on, keeping in mind the interests of the consumers, soon the appropriate proposal will be sent to the Regulatory Commission.
