Rajasthan: The conductor was driving the bus, the driver kept raping by playing loud music in the cabin, the passengers caught hearing the screams

A sensational incident of gang rape of a girl in a bus running on the highway of Jaipur has come to light. The driver forced himself on her after finding her alone in the cabin. The conductor bus kept running by playing loud music. When the passengers raised an alarm, they stopped the bus and beat up the driver. The frightened victim has lodged an FIR against the bus driver at Kanota police station. Police said that the incident happened on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when the private bus was coming from Uttar Pradesh to Jaipur. According to the police, this girl coming from Kanpur to Jaipur was sitting in the cabin where drivers Arif and Lalit raped her.

The girl was coming to her maternal uncle in Jaipur

The girl told that her maternal uncle lives in Jaipur. On the evening of 9th December, she boarded a Videocoach bus from Kanpur to Jaipur to work with her maternal uncle. When all the seats at the back of the bus were filled, the conductor made him sit in the cabin along with seven-eight other passengers. He told that the passengers sitting in the cabin got down at different places on the way till late night. She was left alone. The driver sitting nearby sent me to sleep on the sleeper seat located at the top of the cabin. After some time he also came there and raped her. When the victim screamed, her co-driver increased the volume of the music. During this time, the passengers, hearing the girl’s voice, forcibly stopped the bus near the petrol pump in Kanota and saved her. After this, the passengers beat the accused Arif badly and handed him over to the police.

Passengers stopped the bus after making noise

Jaipur’s Kanota police station officer Bhagwan Sahay Meena said that Arif was arrested while Lalit managed to escape and is being searched. He told that Arif is currently in judicial custody. The police officer said that there were only a few passengers inside the bus while the victim was sitting in the cabin near the driver which was locked from inside. He said that when the incident happened, the woman raised an alarm, which alerted the passengers and they stopped the bus and caught the driver Arif, while Lalit ran away.

One was caught, the other driver jumped from the bus

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Bassi) Phoolchand Meena said that the victim girl had boarded a private bus from Kanpur to Jaipur on Saturday night. The girl had left from Kanpur for her maternal uncle’s house in Sanganer. He said that on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim against the two drivers of the bus – Arif (35) and Lalit, a case was registered against the accused under section 376 D (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of SC, ST. After registering, Arif was arrested while the other driver of the bus jumped out of the bus and ran away.
