Uttarakhand: CM Dhami inaugurated the new corporate building of UJVNL, said – Hydroelectric Corporation should focus on power generation as per the requirement of industries in the state

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the 23rd Foundation Day celebration of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam on Saturday evening. At the time of formation of the state, the energy sector was considered the basic foundation of our economy, but this goal of ours has not been completely successful yet. The Chief Minister said that we are being given necessary support from time to time by the Central Government in completing the development plans of the energy sector in the state on time. An example of this is the Lakhwar Multi-Purpose Hydroelectric Project in which work is being done at a fast pace. This project will generate about 475 million units of electricity, which will create new opportunities in the energy sector for our state. Along with this, the approval of the Central Government has also been received for the Jamrani Dam project, work on which will also be started soon.

A historic work has been done by UJVNL by completing the work of Vyasi Project (120 MW) in April-May 2022, which will prove to be a milestone in the energy sector of Devbhoomi. On one hand, this project will ensure high quality electricity supply to the areas of Jaunsar Bawar, while on the other hand, it will also improve the economic life of the local people. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the commencement of work on a multipurpose project like Lakhwad (300 MW), he said that with this, Uttarakhand will be able to get additional 300 MW electricity along with the supply of water for drinking and irrigation to 05 states. By the end of this financial year 15 MW. Madmaheshwar project will also start its production successfully. Under the mega projects, Tuni-Plasu 72 MW in Yamuna Valley. When institutions get government land, they are also responsible for its security, hence all departments should inspect their respective areas and free the lands from encroachment. He said that the government will not tolerate encroachment under any circumstances.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the third decade of the 21st century as the decade of Uttarakhand and our government is determined and working towards completing it. We are determined to make Uttarakhand the best state of the country with our ‘optionless resolve’. Our government is working day and night to fulfill this goal and make Uttarakhand a developed, capable and ideal state. The Chief Minister expected UJVNL and other energy corporations to continue contributing to make the state the country’s number one state in the energy sector by making proper use of the available resources.

The Chief Minister said that we will have to move forward in the field of energy along with knowledge, science and innovation by coordinating ecology and economy in the field of green energy. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also gave away awards to various power houses and projects by UJVN Limited for their commendable performance in the year 2022-23 with the aim of maintaining better working culture of the corporation and boosting the morale of the corporation’s employees.
