IND vs GER Hockey: Indian hockey team lost to Germany, lost to Belgium in the last match
The Indian men’s hockey team’s poor performance in the Five Nations tournament continued as it suffered its third consecutive defeat with a 2-3 defeat against Germany here on Tuesday. Abhishek (ninth minute) and Shamsher Singh (14th minute) scored goals for India in the first half.
However, Germany made a strong comeback after falling behind by two goals and won with goals from Malte Hellwig (28th minute), Christopher Ruhr (50th minute) and Gonzalo Peillat (51st minute). Earlier, India had to face defeats of 0-1 against Spain and 2-7 against Belgium.
India started well and took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter with goals from Abhishek and Shamsher. There was a tough competition between the two teams in the second quarter. Hellwig scored a goal in the last minutes of the second quarter to take India’s lead to 2-1 at halftime.
In the last quarter, Germany equalized with Ruhr’s goal on a penalty stroke and then in the next minute, Peillat scored from a penalty corner to ensure Germany’s victory. India will play its next match against France on Wednesday.
