The bodies of 87 people killed seven months ago in Manipur were cremated today
On Wednesday, 87 bodies of violence victims were buried en masse near Khuga Dam at Sehken in Churachandpur district. Amidst tight security, a condolence ceremony was organized for these victims and deceased at the Wall of Remembrance, Peace Ground, Tuibong. Section 144 is still in force in the district following a clash between two tribal communities on Sunday night.
Name of Kuki Hamar-Mizon-Jomi martyr place
Let us tell you that these bodies were in the mortuaries for the last eight months. Eight months later, 87 bodies of the Kuki-Jo community were buried near the Khuga Dam. Of the 87 bodies, 41 bodies were brought from Imphal mortuary last week while 46 bodies were kept in Churachandpur. This burial site has been named Kuki Hamar-Mizon-Jomi Shaheed.
Condolence with gun salute
Earlier on December 15, the process of burial of 19 dead bodies took place in a mass programme. The process of mass burial of dead bodies was carried out under the theme ‘Sacrifice today for our tomorrow’ in the Martyr’s graveyard in Faizal village. During this, the village volunteers expressed their condolences with a gun salute.
