The Pakistani team could not perform well in the ODI World Cup 2023. The team was not successful in reaching even the semi-finals. After this Babar Azam left the captaincy of all three formats. Shan Masood was made the captain in his place in Test and Shaheen Afridi was made the captain in T20. Whereas, Mohammad Hafeez got the responsibility of director. Umar Gul was announced as the bowling coach, Saeed Ajmal as the spin bowling coach and Adam Hollioake as the batting coach. But now there has been a change again in Pakistan cricket and a former player has got a big responsibility.

This former player got the responsibility

According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, Simon Helmot was appointed as the high performance coach of the Pakistani team for the Australia series. But he will not go on New Zealand tour with the Pakistani team. For this reason, former player Yasir Arafat has been made the high performance coach for the five-match T20 series against New Zealand. He will fly directly to New Zealand.

Prior coaching experience

Yasser Arafat has previous coaching experience in New Zealand as well as England. He has played 27 international matches including 13 T20 International matches. He has also been a part of the Pakistani team that won the T20 World Cup title in 2009. But then he played only one match. He has experience, which can be useful to the Pakistani team.

There will be a five T20 match series against New Zealand

The Pakistani team is currently on a tour of Australia. In the first test against Australia, Pakistan had to face defeat by 360 runs. Now the second test will be played from 26th December. The third test match will be played in Sydney from January 3. Pakistan’s bowlers and batsmen did not perform well in the first Test against Australia. The Pakistani team has already been announced for the T20 series against New Zealand. The T20I series against New Zealand will start from January 12, with the final match on January 21.
