It is noteworthy that the Union Sports Ministry has canceled the recognition of the new organization of the Indian Wrestling Federation. The ministry has also suspended the newly appointed president of WFI, Sanjay Singh. The new president Sanjay Singh had announced that the Under-15 and Under-19 matches would be held in Gonda, although the rules for the same were not followed. For this reason the Sports Ministry took this action. The Sports Ministry has also decided to cancel all decisions taken by newly appointed chairman Sanjay Singh. A Sports Ministry official said, “The new body did not follow the WFI constitution. We have not dismissed the federation but have suspended it till further orders. They just need to follow proper procedure and rules.”

Let us tell you that Sanjay Singh, who was elected President of WFI on Thursday, is considered close to former WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The wrestlers had raised objections after Sanjay Singh was elected president. The wrestlers said that he is close to Brijbhushan Sharan Singh and hence there is no hope of any improvement in the WFI. Soon after Singh became the president, wrestler Sakshi Malik, who won a medal in the Rio Olympics, had announced her retirement from the sport. At the same time, Bajrang Punia had also returned his Padma Shri.

Let us tell you that Sakshi decided to retire from wrestling soon after the decision of Indian Wrestling Association elections last week. A day later, Punia issued a statement on ‘X’ saying, “I am returning my Padshree honor to the Prime Minister. This is just my letter to say. This is my statement. In this letter, he told about everything from the protests against Brij Bhushan to the election victory of his close friend and the conversation with a government minister and his assurance. And in the end he talked about returning the padshree.

Punia returned Padmashree
Punia wrote, “Prime Minister, hope you will be healthy. You will be busy serving the country. Amidst your busy schedule, I want to draw your attention to the country’s wrestling. ”He wrote, ”You must be aware that in January this year, female wrestlers had made serious allegations of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan Singh. I also joined his movement. The movement stopped when the government talked about concrete action. ,

Expressing his disappointment, the star wrestler wrote, “But no FIR was registered against Brij Bhushan for three months. We again started protesting on the streets in April so that the police would at least file an FIR against him. Punia wrote, “In January, the number of complaining women wrestlers was 19, which came down to seven by April. That is, in these three months, on the basis of his strength, Brij Bhushan defeated 12 women wrestlers in his fight for justice. ,

When Punia tried to reach Parliament to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submit his letter protesting against Sanjay Singh’s election, Delhi Police officials stopped him on duty. When Punia was stopped by Delhi Police officials, he said, “No, I do not have any permission.” If you can hand over this letter to the Prime Minister then do so because I cannot go inside. I am neither protesting nor aggressive. ,

All three wrestlers opposed the elections
