Uttarakhand: Elephant killed a person who went to collect wood, villagers panic

A person who had gone to collect wood in the Dhaulkhand range of Rajaji National Park was trampled to death by an elephant. The police team has taken the body of the deceased into custody and sent it for post-mortem. There is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers after the incident.

The incident happened on Monday evening. According to the information, Iqbal (50), resident of Bandarjud, had gone with his brother Ayyub to the forest of Dhaulkhand range of Rajaji Park to collect wood. While returning home, the elephant wrapped Iqbal in its trunk and threw him on the ground. Somehow Job saved his life by running away

Iqbal had died in an elephant attack. When Ayyub raised an alarm, the villagers working nearby reached the spot. After receiving information about the incident, police and forest department teams reached the spot. The police have taken the body of the deceased in their custody and sent it for post-mortem.
Panic among villagers
It is being told that Iqbal used to work hard to support his family’s expenses. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area after the incident. According to the information, Forest Ranger Govind Singh Panwar said that a villager has died in an elephant attack. Villagers are being appealed not to enter within the park limits.
