Major accident in cricket field, player dies during match in Mumbai
A 52-year-old man died while fielding during a local cricket match when a ball from another match being played at the same ground hit him on the head. Police said on Wednesday that the accident happened at Dadkar Cricket Ground in Matunga on Monday afternoon.
At that time Jayesh Chunnilal Savla was fielding for his team. Two matches were going on simultaneously on the field. When the batsman made a shot from the second match, the ball hit the back of Savla’s head. He fell unconscious on the field. He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The officer said that Savla died due to head injury and an accidental death report was lodged at Matunga police station. Matches were being played on the ground in a tournament organized by the Kutchi community.
