Uttarakhand: Sudden lockdown in four villages… Laxman Rekha drawn on the borders with mantras
Lockdown was suddenly imposed in four villages of Uttarakhand. No person from these villages will be able to go out of the village limits nor will anyone from outside be able to enter these villages. Actually, in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, every village and region has its own rituals and customs to worship the Gods. One such ritual is being performed for prosperity, good harvest and health in four villages of Urgam valley of border district Chamoli.
This puja, which takes place every 60 years, will last for four days. To ensure that the prayers go on smoothly, Lakshman Rekha has been drawn on the borders of the villages using worshiped rice and other grains using mantras. For as many days as the puja will take place, no person from these villages will be able to go out of the village limits, nor will anyone from outside be able to enter these villages.
These days, people of Salud and Dungra villages of Dungri, Barosi and Joshimath areas of Urgam valley are engrossed in worshiping in the temple of Bhumiyal Devta. On January 10, at 2 pm, the Ubed (surrounding the village with mantras) program started in the temple of Bhumiyal Devta of the village. Before the puja began, the boundaries of the four villages were sealed with mantras.

After this, the organizers also imposed a complete ban on the movement of vehicles. In a way there is a lockdown for the worship of the deity. This lockdown was imposed from January 10 and will last till January 13. With the completion of the puja on this day, the barriers of boundaries will be opened. Then vehicles will be able to move in the villages. Along with this, local villagers will also be able to go here and there, but for the number of days there will be lockdown for worshiping the deity, all the villagers will remain engrossed in worshiping in the temple of the deity.

This program is taking place in the village after about 60 years. It is called Ubed Ukhel. This program is organized for the prosperity of the village, removal of sorrow, disease, good harvest, good health of animals and humans.
