Every poor family in Bihar will get Rs 2-2 lakh, important decision of Nitish cabinet; 18 agendas approved

Each member of 94 lakh 33 thousand 312 poor families of Bihar will get Rs 2 lakh as assistance. It will be given to people of all sections i.e. general category, backward class, extremely backward class, SC and ST category. This proposal was approved in the meeting of the State Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday. 18 proposals were approved in the meeting.

After the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of Cabinet Department, Dr. S. Siddharth said that according to caste based calculation, the number of poor families in the state is 94,33,312. Each member of these families will be given Rs 2 lakh as grant for employment. For this purpose, the State Council of Ministers has approved the proposal of Bihar Small Entrepreneur Scheme.

He informed that this amount will be given to the beneficiaries in three installments. 25 percent amount will be payable in the first year, 50 percent in the second year and 25 percent in the third year. This scheme has been implemented for five years. Administrative approval has been given for Rs 250 crore in the year 2023-24, nominally Rs 1000 crore in the year 2024-25, totaling Rs 1250 crore.

Assistance will be given for 62 industries

Under this, assistance will be provided for 62 industries. For the implementation and monitoring of the scheme, a six-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department. Not only this, a separate six-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the concerned District Magistrate for monitoring at the district level. If any industries have been left out, the committee will also consider including them in this list. Only residents of Bihar aged between 18 to 50 years will be eligible for this scheme. The family income of the beneficiaries should not exceed Rs 6 thousand per month. Online applications will be invited for the scheme every year. If more applications are received, the beneficiaries will be selected in a computerized random manner.
