Threat of great war from Russia, NATO countries will conduct the biggest exercise for the first time after the Cold War

In view of the threat of a fierce war with Russia, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries are going to start the biggest exercise since the Cold War next week. In this exercise, 90 thousand NATO soldiers, 50 warships, 80 fighter jets and 1100 combat vehicles will take part in NATO’s Exercise Steadfast Defender 2024. The purpose of this major NATO exercise is to see how the US military can help its European allies if a major war with Russia arises. This exercise is especially important for the countries bordering Russia and the eastern part of NATO.
It is being told that 90 thousand soldiers will participate in this exercise. This exercise will continue till May. NATO’s top commander Chris Cavoli announced this on Thursday. He said that 50 warships, 80 fighter jets, helicopters and drone aircraft will participate in this exercise. Apart from this, at least 1100 combat vehicles will also showcase their mettle in the exercise, which includes 133 tanks and 533 infantry fighting vehicles. Cavoli said that in this major exercise, NATO will see how it can bring into reality its ‘regional defense plan’. These are such plans which have been made for the first time in decades and how to deal with any attack by Russia. telling.

What is NATO’s plan against Russia?
NATO may not have directly named Russia in its declaration, but its most important strategic documents show that Russia is the biggest and most direct threat to the security of NATO members. NATO said in its statement, ‘Steadfast Defender 2024 will show how NATO can quickly send forces from North America and other member states to Europe.’ After the meeting of senior NATO military officials, it was told that the US and other NATO countries will practice quickly helping their allies in Europe. This would be done during a “potential war” where NATO might have to fight a larger country.
NATO countries last conducted such large-scale war exercises in 1988 during the Cold War. 1 lakh 25 thousand soldiers were involved in this. After this, a similar exercise took place in 2018 also, in which 50 thousand soldiers participated. This new exercise will involve soldiers from all NATO countries and Sweden. Sweden may also soon become a member of NATO. NATO countries will work on a plan to immediately send troops to Poland, which is Russia’s target. In the Ukraine war, Poland has sent the most help to Zelensky, due to which Russia is angry at him. This NATO exercise will also take place in the Baltic countries where the risk of Russian attack is very high.
