AUS Vs WI: Change in Australian team, Mitchell Marsh becomes captain; Star all-rounder also returns

Cricket Australia has announced a team of 14 members for the three-match T20 series against West Indies. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been appointed the captain of the team. Apart from Australia’s regular captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Steve Smith will not be part of the T20 series. Cricket Australia has decided to give rest to these players to manage the workload. However, star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has returned to the team for the T20 series.

However, Cricket Australia has not yet made it clear who will take charge of the team in this year’s T20 World Cup. But after Marsh got the command, it can now be assumed that he is also among the contenders for captaincy for the World Cup. Last year, Matthew Wade was seen leading the Australian team in the T20 series against India.

According to the report of Cricbuzz, there is a high possibility that Pat Cummins will be seen taking charge of the Australian team. Pat Cummins’ return in the T20 series against New Zealand is considered certain. This series will make it clear who will take charge of Australia in the T20 World Cup. Starc will also be seen playing in the series against New Zealand.

Glenn Maxwell has returned to the team. Maxwell was earlier out of the ODI series. Fast bowler Nathan Ellis has also returned to the team.
