WPL 2024 Schedule: Opening match will be between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the schedule of the new season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024). According to the schedule announced by BCCI, the second season of the Women’s Premier League will be organized from 23 February to 17 March. The matches of the tournament will be played only in Bengaluru and Delhi. The opening match will be played between last year’s champion Mumbai Indians and runner-up Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru, while the final match will be held in Delhi on March 17.
All matches will be played from 7.30 pm
Unlike the last season, this time BCCI has made a slight change in the timing of the matches in the second season of this professional league of women’s cricket. This time all the matches of WPL 2024 will start from 7.30 pm and only one match will be played in a day. An interesting thing in the schedule of the tournament is that this time the opening match will be held on 23 February between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru. After this, when the second leg of the tournament will also start on March 5 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the first match will be played between these two teams there too. The host team of the Bengaluru leg, Royal Challengers Bangalore, will play its first match against UP Warriorz on 24 February at its home stadium M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The first leg of the tournament will be in Bengaluru and the second leg in Delhi
The first 11 matches of the tournament will be played in Bengaluru from 23 February. After this the second leg of the league will start. In this also only 11 matches will be played. This leg will be held in Delhi from March 5, where the first remaining 9 league matches will be played till March 13. After this two playoff matches will be held. The first eliminator playoff will be held on March 15, in which the second and third placed teams will face each other. The winning team will get a chance to challenge the top ranked team of the league in the final on March 17. The winning team will win the WPL Trophy.
