Uttarakhand: Income Tax appointed 29 officers to monitor elections, this special team was formed in 13 districts

Income Tax has appointed 29 people to keep vigil in the elections. The government machinery has started preparations for the Lok Sabha elections. So that as soon as the code of conduct is implemented, the entire system appears ready to work under the Election Commission without any delay. In this direction, the Income Tax Department has also constituted Quick Response Team (QRT). A total of 26 officers have been deployed in the team, who will work under the guidance of the Deputy Director/Assistant Director of Investigation.

According to the orders of TS Mapwal, Additional Director (Investigation) of Income Tax Department, QRT has been formed for all the 13 districts of Uttarakhand. Except Dehradun and Haridwar, in other districts, two Income Tax Officers (ITOs) have been appointed in one team. In view of the large district and high mobility, both the officers of Deputy Director level have been posted in QRT of Dehradun.

At the same time, a senior deputy director has also been appointed to direct the team. ITO along with a Deputy Director has been appointed in Haridwar. All the teams have been kept on standby right now, but the team will start their work as soon as the code of conduct is implemented.

Responsibility for investigation will lie in case cash is seized

As soon as the code of conduct is implemented, the machinery of the Election Commission will take all the checkposts under its control. In such a situation, if cash is caught anywhere, it will be investigated by this QRT. Only the Income Tax Department will decide whether to confiscate the seized cash or release it.

QRT will work in this coordination

The QRTs divided into sub-sectors (district wise) will work in coordination with senior officials. Deputy Director posted in Dehradun has been appointed for Dehradun, Chamoli, Haridwar and Uttarkashi. Similarly, the duty of Deputy Director posted in Haldwani has been imposed for Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. On the other hand, the duty of another Deputy Director posted in Dehradun has been imposed for Pauri, Rudraprayag and Tehri. Officer, this special team has been formed in 13 districts.
