Uttarakhand: Chief Electoral Officer held a meeting in the Secretariat and reviewed the efforts being made to increase the voting percentage

Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam has directed that a special campaign will be run to encourage the voters of the state to vote. Besides, a state-wide campaign should be run to make voters take oath to vote by going door-to-door. He said that voting is the duty of every citizen.

Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Purushottam was reviewing the efforts being made to increase the voting percentage in a meeting held in his office at the Secretariat. He said that every possible effort should be made with a targeted approach to increase the voting percentage. Booth level awareness groups will have to work actively. Booth wise strategy should be made. Special focus should be given to those booths where voting percentage was low in the last elections. Analyzing the reasons for low turnout at these booths, a plan should be made.

Dr. Purushottam said that to increase the voting percentage, a special drive will be run and oath of voting will be administered by visiting every house. Any kind of negligence will not be tolerated in this. Along with the voting oath, information about the facilities being provided to voters above 80 years of age and disabled voters should be given.

Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Purushottam gave instructions to ensure monitoring of the entire campaign. He said that for voter awareness, a daily calendar of sweep activities should be made and programs should be run accordingly.

He said that every platform of media should be used for voter awareness. Youth should be connected through social media. He said that the theme of this year’s National Voting Day was ‘Nothing like voting, I voted for sure’. Its message should reach every voter.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Namami Bansal, Pratap Shah and other officers were present in the meeting.
