Uttarakhand: Efforts to improve maternal and child health care intensified in the state, following the instructions of Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, the health department took many major decisions

The state government is making every possible effort to improve health services for pregnant women and mother-child. Under this, a 200-bed health wing will soon be built in Haridwar for mother-child care. The state government has decided that if a woman stays in a government hospital for 48 hours after delivery, then she will be given Rs 02 thousand. Apart from this, orders have been issued for hemoglobin meters and strips for testing pregnant women under the National Health Mission.

Let us tell you that after assuming the charge of Chief Secretary, Radha Raturi ji first took a review meeting of the Maternal Health Program of the Health Department. In which he expressed concern about the health of pregnant women. In which Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar including Health Department, Women Empowerment and Child Development Department, and all the District Magistrates participated. The Chief Secretary had given orders to the officials that no stone should be left unturned in taking care of the health of mother and child. He had given instructions to the officials to immediately implement various mother-child schemes. After which the Health Department has approved the instructions of Chief Secretary Radha Raturi and taken many major decisions related to the interests of pregnant women.

Old ambulances will be replaced

Following the guidelines of the Chief Secretary, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has taken several important steps towards further improving maternal-child medical services. Secretary Medical Health and Medical Education Uttarakhand Dr. R Rajesh Kumar said that all the old and defective ambulances will be replaced on priority basis.

262 new doli palanquins

Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar said that with the help of National Health Mission, 262 new palanquins will be provided to the districts in the next few years. The Health Department is promoting Shagun Yojana for pregnant women. Under this scheme, provisions have been made to give Rs 2000 to pregnant women after their stay of 48 hours after delivery in government hospitals.

Health monitoring of pregnant women

Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that the Health Department is also providing iron, folic acid and calcium tablets to pregnant women. He said comprehensive measures are underway, focusing on reviewing and reporting every maternal and newborn death.

Dr R Rajesh Kumar said that a standard operating procedure is being prepared for Asha and Anganwadi workers to keep an eye on high-risk pregnant women. He has given instructions to use one stop centers with focus on monitoring the progress of maternal-child health services. He expressed hope that this initiative will contribute significantly to the overall development of maternal and child health care in Uttarakhand.
