‘I received a call, will not support Champai…’, reveals Jharkhand Governor 6 days after government formation

Governor CP Radhakrishna has termed all the allegations made by Hemant Soren and the alliance leaders regarding the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the delay in inviting him to form the government as baseless. While meeting the media at Raj Bhavan on Thursday, he outright rejected all the allegations leveled against Raj Bhavan.

Also giving information about the situation, he said that Hemant Soren was in ED custody even before coming to Raj Bhavan to resign from the post of Chief Minister. He vehemently denied that Hemant was arrested at Raj Bhavan by ED. The Governor said that while discharging his constitutional responsibilities, he formed the new government in Jharkhand within 26.5 hours.

He did not say that the new government should prove majority in 24 hours. Gave 10 days time for this. The question was raised that how can people say that Raj Bhavan has any role in all the activities and Raj Bhavan is also responsible for the fall of the government? The Governor said that Hemant Soren himself has admitted in his resignation that he is in ED custody and he wants to resign from the post of Chief Minister.

According to the Governor, the ED had called his Principal Secretary Dr. Nitin Madan Kulkarni and said that it has arrested Chief Minister Hemant Soren and he wants to resign. After this, Chief Secretary L Khyangte also called his Principal Secretary and informed that Hemant wanted to resign. Such information also came from CMO. After this he waited for Hemant Soren for three hours.

After this it was said on behalf of the Chief Secretary that the Chief Minister will not come alone. Some senior ministers will also come with him. On this he allowed three people to come. The Governor said that he never said who would come and who would not. The Governor also said that he was not informed earlier that the MLAs accompanying Hemant would stake claim to form the government. Suddenly he presented a claim saying that he had the support of 43 MLAs. On this he said that a decision will be taken and information will be given the next day. The Governor said that when Hemant Soren came to Raj Bhavan to resign, two-three people were standing next to him. According to the Governor, he did not know who those people were. They don’t even recognize ED officials.

I got a call that I will not support Champai
On the question of delay in inviting government to form the government, the Governor said that from the reports coming in the media it seemed that Champai Soren did not have the majority. He had also received one or two calls in which it was said that support would not be given. In such a situation, it was necessary to take some time in inviting government formation. He said that he took legal advice before giving the invitation to form the government.

One was called to form the government, another came
The Governor said that he had called an MLA (Champai Soren) to Raj Bhavan at 11 pm on February 1 to invite him to form the government, but another MLA came with him. Let us tell you that Congress MLA Alamgir Alam had gone to Raj Bhavan along with Champai Soren.

Nitish was neither in ED custody nor missing
On the allegations made on formation of new government in Bihar within four hours and delay in Jharkhand, the Governor said that Nitish Kumar was not detained by ED in Bihar. Nor was Nitish Kumar missing for two days. In Jharkhand, only the Chief Minister was missing for two days. He said that being completely satisfied, he invited to form the government. He said, if people want to do something to take political advantage then what can they do? Where is the proof when they are making allegations?

Governor said, will also look at the closed envelope
In response to a question asked regarding Hemant Soren’s Office of Profit case, he said that he will also look at the closed envelope of the Election Commission. He said that the way he was treated during his address in the Assembly was strange in itself. Hemant Soren should ask Chief Minister Champai Soren why he got such a long speech prepared.
