A grand rally was taken out in Kotdwar demanding original residence and making strict land law. The rally was taken out from Lal Batti Chowk Badrinath Marg to Kotdwar Tehsil via Tadial Chowk, Devi Mandir, Motor Nagar on Devi Road.
During this time, ‘Mool Niwas, Land Law Coordination Sangharsh Samiti’ targeted the state government regarding the incident that took place in Haldwani. Committee convener Mohit Dimri said that if native and strong land laws were implemented in the state, such an unpleasant incident would not have happened. He strongly condemned the Haldwani incident and said that the identity of Devbhoomi has been peace.
Conch sound of self-respect movement from Kotdwar to original residence
Mohit Dimri said that how will Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami identify those external elements whom he calls a threat to the peace of the state and against whom he talks about taking strict action? He said that native land and strong land laws are the most effective weapons against any outside element. He said that the conch shell of Swabhiman Andolan is going to be sounded from Kotdwar, the gate of Garhwal division.
This land is the land of revolutionaries. From here the message of this movement will go to the entire mountain. And a new revolution will begin. He said that there are illegal encroachments present not only in Haldwani but also in many other areas in the state, against which the government talks about using bulldozers, but the real solution is not bulldozers but strong land laws.
Committee convener Mohit Dimri said that the government should strictly enforce strong land laws in the state and collect details of all the land and further action should be taken on that basis.
Councilor Parvendra Singh Rawat, member of the coordination committee, and former student union president Ramesh Bhandari said that the government is discriminating against the people of the hills. On the pretext of encroachment, shops and houses of many people were demolished in the hilly areas, while instead of removing the illegal settlements, an ordinance was brought overnight giving relief to them. The public has started understanding the dual character of the government.
The people of Uttarakhand are fighting to save their existence. If we do not fight now, the existence of the original inhabitants will cease to exist in the coming time. This fight is a fight to save the mountain’s existence, self-respect, culture and resources.
Speakers said that the identity of Uttarakhand will be saved only when native land and strong land laws are implemented. Despite being a double engine government, non-implementation of the Domicile of Origin 1950 brings the BJP government under question.
Said that if the government is public friendly then it should pass the Domicile Bill of 1950 in the Assembly. Lack of original residence is the root of all problems. Today people from outside are looting our resources. The policies of national parties are responsible for this.
